on by Reid, and also incidentally by my various friends, who are really so unkind and unappreciative and incomprehensible as to not always be overwhelmed by my work. As I look at the work I did at the first of the year, and guiltily remember that I thought it right good then, I fall into a very humble frame of mind. I wonder how far off my ideas may now be.

We went to Reid's Studio yesterday - on invitation. He had forgotten he had invited us and asked us to wait a moment. Perhaps it seemed ridiculous to wait in the hall - for he opened the door again - and apologized for his studio-garb. He was in a white duck suit which enhanced his size and as he pranced back and forth among his pictures showing
