Dear Florence,

So glad to hear from you though the closing paragragraphs of your letter made me doubly envious. I have wanted to go to Yucatan for such a very long time. I can only say, nobly, that I hope you find it even more excited than you anticipated. The older I get, the more I turn towards architecture and sculpture, away from the very "colored" arts of my youth. And this must be a kind of climax in architectural experiences.

The Institute is incredibly busy. We opened the 53rd annual with its Grand Wood one-man show attached (or rather, the Grant Wood show first, for its the tail that wags.............) The opening was pretty impressive. We had the Lieutenant-Governor of Iowa, Hickenlooper (who became Governor a few days later) along with Dave Turner
