Dear Mr. Speyer:

Your enthusiasm for the Diego Rivera portrait of Florence Arquin is most qualifying. I knew it would please her very much, as it would to know that it must be on exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago, where she spent so much of her life.

If agreeable to the A.I.C., your records should show that the painting is of "FLORENCE ARQUIN" also known as FLORENCE ARQUIN WILLIAMS, and that it is a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A. Williams of Chicago.

There are no restrictions upon the A.I.C., of course, so that it may be included in any exhibits approved by the A.I.C.

For your information, I am enclosing a resume of Florence's background - a copy of the announcement of the publication of Florence's book "Diego Rivera - The Shaping of an Artist" - taken from the catalog distributed
