August 7 1943.
Dear Hedda,
I had 2 letters from you this week Dated July 2nd and from Provincetown, with the postcards and the beautiful drawings of yours- Beautiful drawing, just the way you look and just the way I think of you and I expect to find you back home, with round soft arms and open humid lips. I know already that the best time in my life is when I'm waiting for something good and now I keep waiting for seeing you again sometime but it'll take too long a time and I keep thinking too much at you and I'm not happy at all. Anyway I'm not supposed to be here for fun- Made me sad today to see a June issue of Life magazine with new pictures and girls on the beach and new advertisings and thought of how beautiful would have been to spend the summer with you. A fellow here told me how nice a place Provincetown is- He knows the place.
