Dear Leda, Febr. 16 1944
It's warm in here and fine but they are playing
ping pong around and I cannot help following the ball with my eyes so it's hard to concentrate, don't expect to read an intelligent letter now. I think ping pong is about the worst vice people have invented.
It's almost an year since I left you. Strange, the year has gone fast but the days - individually - were passing slow and painfully, sometimes. Maybe because a year gone means a closer chance to see you. a day means just another day.

Glad to know you received my ring and you are wearing it. I received an old letter from andre. The bastard is making etchings and works fine and keeps complaining. Poor victims. He doesn't mention you in his letter and that was the only thing I was looking for. Miss Morrison or whats her name wrote me again but I don't have the force to answer because she's expecting from me an interesting letter. Love you S.
