Dear Toshiko-
Thank you very much for your birthday letter- It was so good to hear from you. Gosh you must be a very busy girl. Hope there's time left for you to do some
of your own work-
I was happy and surprised to receive a letter from Edward- He seems to be doing fine- Working on his own pottery during the
day and teaching at nights. I am happy for him- He seems to be very much impressed with Voulkos. I also feel that Voulkos is a great person and admire his talents very much-
Well, the kiln is here in the shed ready to be connected and the smoke stack to be attached. We got the electric wheel and
the scales, chemicals and table- I'm soaking the clay now- We'll have to get some plaster of Paris to make bats - It won't be long now -
I'm weaving pieces for shows - I made a small rug to see whether I can weave rugs on my loom- It worked out all right so will do a 3' rug next. Made also a wall hanging using Nature materials such as a Japanese grass that a friend gave us from their garden and a beautiful dark bark from our own Russian Olive trees in the back yard. Allen also go down to the river which is a block away and gathers beautiful willow branches for me He sets up a factory in the yard and cuts them up to different sizes for me to have a in place mats and screens - He also gathers the lilac leaves for me more over
