Dear Toshiko,

Thank you for writing and letting me know where you are. As you can imagine I'm pleased beyond words with the prospect of doing something there. In fact I'd like to get there as soon as possible to get the new location in mind and to reconsider what I should do. But I don't think I can get away before the middle of February. Could you possibly be still there then? It would be great to meet you there.

I was sent some newspaper clippings regarding the frakas [[fracas]] they had about my being selected and I'm enormously pleased and grateful to the people there for having insisted upon me. What better auspices to work under - hope I'm up to it.
