Q: How about your glazes? Do you use the same glaze formulas over and over again?

Takaezu: A lot over and over again.

Q: Is there any certain effect you try to get on the glazes?

Takaezu: I'd like to be able to have color that would work together. I'm doing pinks and blues, and it's a glaze that I developed, and it's a tricky glaze. Sometimes it turns good and sometimes it turns ghastly. But I like to be able-- like a painting effect. Three- dimensional forms are just like three-dimensional canvas. You have to go around to see. It's not just flat. And the form is very important, but what you apply on the form I'd like to have it integrate as one. As a unit that's not separate. I'd like to have it merge into one.

Q: The form and the color?

Takaezu: Right. Goes right in. Sometimes it's not successful, but that's the idea I'd like to have. It goes through. And, of course, I like all those different feelings you can get from it. Being able to touch and feel and all those things. And sometimes you can see right into the piece. If you do a good job of the glazing, you can almost go right into the piece itself. Some will draw you almost inside. And the part that is kind of
