1 & with all those angry menacing faces staring
2 at her she was glad to have storm & darkness.

The story of Barbara Fritchie has been known from earliest childhood [[strikethrough]] whether I heard of it afterwards when as a young boy [[/strikethrough]] How I cannot be quite sure. I lived in Fredrick I do not know.- It may have been that as a young boy reading about B F Fredrick the whole incident was appropriated

Certain however it is that if I been asked about it in young manhood I would have claimed first to have heard it during [[strikethrough]] my stay [[/strikethrough]] a visit or at the time rather than having read it first & [[strikethrough]] then have hunted it up [[/strikethrough]] How hard it is to chase & then organize things we have known all our lives, especially our childhood lives. Children build & dream [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] from the smallest incidents which later they are completely unable to separate from real living facts or remember their origins & dreams & every day events are all [[strikethrough]] one [[/strikethrough]] life, becoming day by day one & the same their life.
