Base Hospital 23 & 36
Aug 6th 1918 -

To: Capt. W. Gillespie
From . H. O. Tanner
Subj. Greenhouse at Contrexeville

It contains with the sunken bed alongside of the green house also heated about 52 metres of plantable beds.

The key was not at hand - but it seemed in good condition - as far as I could see only one or two panes of broken glass.

The grates for furnace were there, the smoke pipe for furnace was not in good condition, & would likely have to be replaced

Capt Thompson thinks that 100 or 120 frames would put green house in condition. Certainly the repairs are small.

It will probably take 2 or 3 tons of coal per month.

A Sergent now in command of the gardens & who has had experience in a hot house - and believes himself capable of managing it would be in charge

He seems intelligent & enthusiastic.
