PAST: 1933 - Co-founder with Lorser Feitelson of Postsurrealism. Most early Postsurrealist paintings presented "idea-entities", through arrangements of depicted forms, some visual-perceptive, some conception or diagrammatic; sequence of meanings and associations of these forms created the pictorial aesthetic.

PRESENT: Since about 1942, my work might be considered an extension of another aspect of Postsurrealism: the "mood-entity" concerned, in varying modes of pictorial structure and various degrees of representation and abstraction, with the effort to embody, and to evoke, states of mind, moods and emotions; to to create an ambience of the intuitive, the imaginative, and the subjective within a precisely calculated and logical formal structure. References to "reality" include landscape, architectural elements, interiors, still life.
