know much about it as yet. We have the apartment from Dec. 15 on & until then, I remain here. I havent even thought of my art yet as I've been too busy moving and arguing - but by next week I hope to get started (the hope being only applied to the fact that I want to get the beginning over with) and then the tedious weary regular life will begin - which is probably better than the present idle one which often too many inducements to thought and more thought & no conclusions. It would do me good to get a breath of the sunshine or even thunderstorms which are smiling or frowning respectively on your life.

I possess a strange mixture of friends in Rome so far - A surgeon (always useful in case of emergency), an artist & his wife, a young contesse who is quite in the fling of the social life & expects to take me with her and an objectionable American (commercial Attaché to the Embassy)
