A MUSEUM MEMBERSHIP IS A THOUGHTFUL GIFT

Joseph Noble to Expose Art Fakes
Art Fakes, a talk by Joseph V. Noble, Director of the Museum of the City of New York and former Vice Director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will be featured at Luncheon-Lecture on Tuesday, December 7, at 12 noon. Mr. Noble, a resident of Maplewood, owns one of the country's outstanding private collections of Greek vases. He has gained international recognition for his discovery by scientific means of such "fakes" as the Metropolitan's Greek Bronze horse and Etruscan ceramic warrior figures. The Luncheon-Lectures are co-sponsored by the Museum Men's Council and the Newark Jaycees. Tickets ($3.25) for the noon luncheon are available by phone (642-0011) or at the door. The lecture, at 12:45, is free to the public. 

School Holiday Programs
Free Planetarium shows at 1:30 p.m. and Electricity Demonstrations at 2:30 p.m. will be given on Wednesday, December 8, Monday, December 27, and Thursday, December 30. In addition, Computer Demonstrations will be given at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 27, and Thursday, December 30, for children aged 6 through 18 who are on holiday. 

Mime Performances for Children
Michael Henry, the Mime Player, assisted by Sandy Mowbray, will perform for children in a free performance on Saturday, December 11, at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Henry, who has performed at the White House and all over the United States, is a mime of exceptional skill, imagination and warmth. With disciplined body movement he brings to life a world of characters and animals, machines and toys, statues and dreams, fairytales and fables. He invites his youthful audiences to join him in a part of his show wherein each one may become a mime, participating in imaginative movement. 

Computer Demonstration
The Science Program on Sunday, December 19, at 2:30 p.m., will give the public an opportunity to see how a computer works and to understand some of the problems which it can solve. As part of the IBM exhibition, Information Machines Then and Now, the Museum's computer terminal is linked with an IBM computer at the New Jersey Educational Computer Center in Princeton. Dr. Alice Blount will demonstrate the computer and explain such concepts as programming, processing, storage and input/output. 

Junior Museum's Medieval Carnival
The year's Junior Museum Winter Festival will present the rich pageantry of a Medieval Carnival for youngsters aged 6 through 18 on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 28 and 29, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Staff will be in costume and festivities will include music, a juggler, refreshments and traditional games. Workshops will include the making of medieval headdresses and decorations of the Romeo and Juliet period. Parents should note that only children will be permitted to enter the festival area. 

Prize Dolls on View
Twenty-five award winning dolls from the Salvation Army's Christmas collection to be given to underprivileged children will be on view in Junior Museum from December 8-16. The dolls were dressed by employees of several large companies in Newark. the costumes include period dresses, nursery rhyme characters, national costumes and modish contemporary outfits.
