Hodge, who is willing & able to support them, they being entirely destitute & dependent on the Gov't for support. |

| Jany 7 1868 20 | Martins Wm. F. Ref'd to Comd'g Off dist Ga E&M 364. Vol 4 | Newnan, Ga. Nov 21st 1867 Calls attention to the case of Winney Ray, col'd, who was sent to the Hospital & died there. States that she had in her possession a young heifer, & during her sickness, was prevailed upon by a quack doctor that he could cure her, & the doctor made Winney pledge the heifer to him, & if she got well, she would redeem the heifer. After the Doctor got possession of the heifer, he abandoned her. Asks instruction how to proceed 

Communication from Wm F. Martins & dated Newnan Jany. 6 1868, States in carrying out his instructions it was necessary to go to the residence of Mr Patterson, he was absent, the family would not inform him where the animal referred to, could be found, he went over the premises to find it, when found, he drove it away. States that he was served with a writ, which he declined to receive, as he acted by authority, asks that an order may be issued by the proper authority, to stay the proceedings of the Civil Authorities. |

Affidavit of Amandy Whitley, col'd. States that her son Robert Burson, is now held in bondage by one Seaborn Burson his former owner of Walton Co. Ga. he (Robert) has been in his possession ever since the surrender of the army, & he is now thirteen years old, & she never gave her consent for him to be bound, the child was bound in Atlanta, Ga. during the year 1865. |

Jany 7th 1867 Reports case of Freedmen in the employ of McMahon, during year 1866 vs W.D. Green, requests authority to sell sufficient of Greens property to pay freedmen. Encloses affidavits in the case. 

Affidavit of W.H. McMahon, states that he hired several hands to cultivate land which he rented from W.D. Green, for him during the year 1866 & after deducting from their wages provisions, goods &c, he found himself indebted to the freedpeople. The said Green held a mortgage on the crop, which in McMahon's opinion held precedence to the claim of the freedmens |
