who says that Amy is well treated.

I had Mr. Tyrell and his wife before me on yesterday, they brought the girl with them, and I am satisfied that she has been well treated. He says that this woman Jane Chambers cold. (now living in Decatur) was his former slave, that his son was at his house about the time Amy ran away, that he believes he was sent there by his mother for the purpose of persuading Amy to go to Decatur & live with her. Mr. Tyrill informs me that he followed her to Decatur & found her in the house of Jane Chambers, cold, that he carried her to another house, bought a string to tie her, but did not do so, kept her there over night, and brought her home next day a[[?]]ing her to ride as much as he did.

As to his giving her 200 hundred lashes at any one time I am satisfied from her own statements that she never got the half of it in all her life. Mr. Tyrill says he believes that instead of Amy calling on the authorities for protection that he believes it would be their duty to protect him in his rights,

He says he is satisfied that this woman Jane Chambers Cold, has been the cause of all these false charges, and demands of me to set him right in the premises.
