Dear Sir,
I have the pleasure to inform you that the Southern Relief Commission have today given an order for the purchase of 4500 bushels of best white corn to be shipped to Savannah to the care of Gourdin Mattheieson & Co.

It is the wish of the commission that this corn be distributed under the direction of yourself and Governor Jenkins, among such persons as may be suffering from the want of food in Georgia "without respect of race or opinion"

I hope the corn will reach its destination in safety and that other shipments will follow as the necessities of the case may dictate.
