Talbotton 19 February 1867

Major Sibley

Dear Sir

Some time in January last Geo N Forby Esqr & myself recommended to Genl Tellston one our citizens Mr James Callier as a Suitable person to discharge the duty of agent of the Freedmans Bureau and we have heard that General Telston confered that appointment on Mr Callier, but as Yet he has received no certificate of his appointment it would be a great conveniance to have an agent here and I am sure that no man in county would discharge the duties of that office more faithfully than Mr Callier, if you should give him the appointment I am satisfied he will do justly with all both white & collord

Yours very Respectfully
Marion Bethune
