The Cotton now unsold of W. & S. will not in present depreciated state of our Mkt. here & abroad, pay out in case of a reclamation we will have to rent & pay loss; should this occur after you have drawn from us the $1995 85/ we will be the sufferers to the whole extent of the reclamation as W. & S. are hardly in condition to make it good, so we would request that should you determine to disburse this $1995 85/ at once, you will leave a sufficient Am't in our hands, to secure us for the share of the loss to be borne by the Freedmen of the Island. Please give this matter yr. careful consideration & awaiting yr. instructions we have the honor to be Colonel,
