Waynesboro Ga
April 28th 1867

Sir
I have the honor to request to be relieved from duty in the Counties of Burke and Jefferson and assigned to duty in some of the upland Counties in this State somewhere in the vicinity of Macon or Atlanta as I am in miserable health and this section of the County is low and unhealthy. I am subject to chills and fever and cannot properly perform the functions of my Office in this part of the State. I also suffer considerable from wounds received during the War.

Hoping that you will grant my request I am with much Respect your Ob't Servant
