Sir, I am here sick. I left Waynesboro, because I considered it unsafe for me remain there.

A report was circulated there by a person who pretended he knew me that I was a part African &c  If such is the case I never knew it untill I came South - my parents I was seperated from when I was a mere infant and placed under the guardianship of a Medical gentleman in Philadelphia &c I attended White Schools and a White University and entered the Army at the Commencement of the late war at the age of Sixteen &c.
