Office Asst Bureau of R.F. & A.L.
Lawrenceville Ga. April 2nd 1867.

Col. C. C. Sibley
Asst. Comr. Ga.

Dr. Sir,
The Justices of the Inferior Court recd. a notice to day of the shipment of 300 bushels corn, to be distributed to the destitute people of this county. They also recd. an order to distribute the same without respect to race or color. Benaficiaries are required to take an oath, and when colored persons make application it shall be the duty of the Agt of the F.B. to decide whether they are entitled or not, and his decision shall be final.

You have requested your Agents to assist in carrying out this order and to attend to such other matters as should seem proper to protect the freed people in their rights. Seeing the difficulty that I was compeled to get into, I proposed to the Inferior Court to take a portion of the corn, have it hauled from the Rail Road and distribute it to the freed people myself.

This they have refused to do, and I now request you to relieve me of the difficulty by an indorsement on the back of this letter to the I. Court to comply with my request

Respectfully your obt. Servant
P. D. Claiborne Agt. B.R.F. & A.L.
