Butler Sept 3rd 1866

Sally Mathews, Wiley Searcey, Green Mathews and Abraham Mathews, Freedmen complains that Archibald Mathews has taken their Crop from them and have ordered them to leave the place.
Ordered that Archibald Mathews be and appear at my office tomorrow morning byt ten O'clock to answer the above charge and that Wiley serve said notice on Mathews.

Sept 4th 1866
Archibald Mathews has failed to attend and Wiley on oath says that he has bin notified to attend.

Orders that said trial proceed. Evidence Wiley Green and Abraham Sworn (Sally not present) Says that last January they entered into a contract with Archibald Mathews to Rent land and furnish them a complete out fit to carry on a farm  Sallys family and Wiley and family Green and [[strikethrough]] Family [[/strikethrough]] wife and Abraham and wife to constitute the farm hands or laborers  The rent of land to be paid out of a part of the crop  that (may be agreed on) which was 1/3 or 1/4 of all produce made (corn 1/3 and cotton 1/4) and the ballance of the crop to be under the control of the said Mathews untill [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] he may be indemnify himself for all money expended in the out fit, reasonable compensation for trouble and 16 percent for all expenditures made by the said Mathews in said out fit and liability incurred.

Ordered and Awarded
That all full men hands be paid twelve dollars and fifty cents per month 

Women Eight Dollars per month 1/2 hands 1/4 in the same proportion, and it further order that said Mathews be allowed to pay for all money or other liabilities
