Georgia Spalding County Personally appeared before me, George W Pitts (freedmen) who deposes and says that he was present at a meeting of freedmen in this place sometime in October 1866, at which meeting J Clark Swayze read to them the advantages of the West for the purpose of getting freedpeople to go there. Deponent further states that the same Swayze promised he would see them (the freedpeople) located.
