The fact is there is no safety here for Freedpeople nor for Union men. They may kill me, but I will never run. I will stand my ground to the last moment. But I want and must have protection. I hold a publlic meeting at my church on Saturday the 30th of this month for the purpose of making known to the Colored men of this county, that they are now clothed with the privilege of voting as free men at the first election that may come up.
