Dear Nell & Dilys

After beat Amsterdam, Basel is tidy and non-sexy. So secure! Its like very good hospital life; Im getting fat and Rudy is soporific and only Thomas is an American-a brat. Rudy's Mama, 84½ is fun & lively & has a sense of theatre in the way she brings out the family trees. I've met 60 relatives, but I liked the Zoo, the animals all had babies, even the elephant. Villa Scragg near Horenee where we stayed with friends was ultra-bohemian. Finns, English, Italians, Negros, children, grappa-wine, horses, turkeys, billy goats and 22 cats and Americans were there, all eating freshly killed rabbit. Then we stayed in a chalet-town in the Alps. Too pittoresque!
