Nice, A.M. 9:2:66. Am motoring through Cote d'Azur, G5p: Fr. Riviera in the morning & will be getting back to Paris in few days. Went to [[?]] St. Paul de Vence - lovely town & wonderful Fondation Maeght housing modern art (Vence itself is sans intêret [[intérêt]]). Also drove through Le Cannet in vain hope of discovering cher Bonnard's home - how he would have hated it all now - a veritable explosion of modern villas & hotels all over the area. Not particularly warm but wonderful climate. Once again many thanks for your good hospitality, Mes amitiés, Ross.

Xmas 77 -

Dear Nell,

Just a year ago I was with you - how time has flown! with my departure, the packing, shipping of my books and furniture, the nodding (with my son) on a Russian boat - and the arrangement of those new things here among the old ones ... But I am very glad I don't have to teach any more on discussing the fate of my poor colleagues.

Any news from Hyde? I don't even know where to write him. Taos, I suppose?

It would be nice to hear from you. Meanwhile, my best wishes for you and Caroline, and still some hope to see you again! The water color you gave me is now in my studio in Spain.

Affectionally, Jean.
