Dear Nell Blaine,

Leslie Katz and Aileen Ward, executors of the Literary Estate of Jean Garrigue, are gathering Jean Garrigue's correspondence and have requested me to write you. The poet's papers are now a part of the Berg Collection at the New York Public Library, Lola Szladits, Curator.

In addition to being the repository of the manuscripts of a poet whose distinction and excellence are becoming more appreciated with the passage of time, the Garrigue papers are considered to be an unusually complete record of the literary life of a writer of her era, including working drafts of poetry and prose from inception to completion over spans of years, diaries, clippings, and extensive memorabilia.

Jean Garrigue's correspondence is known to have been particularly voluminous and far ranging. The effort to collect copies of her letters to correspondents, we believe, is a significant undertaking.

If you have in your possession or know of letters from her, it will be a considerable favor if you will inform the undersigned. All letters will be treated confidentially by the Estate. The Estate will not make further copies or publish any of the correspondence without prior consent. Copying charges will be paid for by the Estate of Jean Garrigue.

We thank you for any information and assistance you may be able to provide.

Yours Truly,
Elly Lee
