The buzzer evidently went on when electricity was turned off - since that is the reason to have the batteries, to "take over". Barbara is getting new batteries for it. 

Send us your detailed instructions as to what to do if it goes on again.

Matthew goes over I speak to him after. He's my paper boy. (one more thing: phone was off: possibly because electricity was off?) 

I heard Jim O'Gorman lectures on John Sloan's Gloucester Summers - 1914-18 with color slides. Since JS lived in house below yours - Jean took color slides of your view from your garden. 

Jim O'Gorman mentioned this & that you were the "finest painter on Cape Ann" to the audience.
