Dear Nancy;

I was delighted to hear from you again. I had been in a very big quandary as to your silence. I know I had heard no syllable from you since I last spoke to you in Dublin. Also, I know that I had written you once & been somewhat hurt at the peculiar silence. I asked Hilly if she had heard you say anything which might indicate that you had been hurt by anything I had said or done. Also Galla was inquired of but I could get no information & although I had no idea of any such thing having come between us I preferred not to make myself destroy by writing more than once without receiving an answer. As for Gerry, you must have him with you by now. I don't know exactly when he sailed but I received a detailed description of his sad condition from pioneers
