Dear Nancy:

I was mighty glad to get your letter & read the good news in it then I had no idea how soon I should be regretting various situations.

You can't imagine how sorry I am that Robert is over there living with you. The last I knew, in Dublin, was that you had at last gotten him to quiet down and allow the relationship to be a friendship & nothing more-at least for the time being. And now he has run away from college under the ridiculous pretext of wanting to study art! I don't in the least doubt that he is interested in art, & perhaps even intends to make it his life work, but if Nancy Brush had been in Dublin he would never have run off to Florence. His being right in the same house with you-which I believe is where he intends to stay-is going to make it fearfully hard for you to withstand his attentions even if you
