Dear Nancy;

I am inutterably ashamed of myself. But I can only say that I have been working from before nine until one & after a short drive with a short tea interruption until supper & a few times after supper for a little over 2 weeks. Usually by suppertime I was so tired I could barely hold my head up. But that's the way I kept at my translation in order to finish it. And altho' I had my typewriter here & had had it brought here on purpose,

2

I only used it for a little bit of the first part I sent in and a page & a half of the second. But I got it done & took it in, myself. It cost me many desperately tired days & steady hard work but if only I can get some more work I shan't have it till the last minute as I did this one, so as to carve & sew - even for friends. I wanted to write & I had [[strikethrough] many [[/strikethrough]] several friends calling for letters & they haven't had them yet. (This part of this letter is being written before breakfast, Feb. 18). I didn't [[strikethrough]] send [[/strikethrough]] write father a line from Feb 15th until last night.

Nancy, please don't believe that
