Dear Nancy;

I first meant to write this letter before tea & inform you that you were growing as bad as I am about writing regularly, but I was prevented & now I can't do any scolding because just as I got downstairs your Apr 1st letter arrived.

You know by now that I got the photo of that exquisite head & what I thought of it (I should say before this will reach you). Now I will tell you what Father's opinion is although you won't altogether like what he said.

The tears came to his eyes as soon as he looked at it & then he asked if it was a portrait & I told him what you had written me of the boy. Then said something about hoping you wouldn't marry soon because it would practically put a stop to your work & that you showed so much talent for painting. "Why this isn't talent, it's genius! This is perfectly beautiful, it's wonderful. A person with a genius such as this picture shows, should never marry. Has no business to marry." There are the remarks made and while
