I may seem unkind towards Mildred, but her being lovely now doesn't wholly wipe the past off the slate - it only helps show how she can control herself when she wants to. Also, I feel that her sister helped make her savage & I don't blame her at all for feeling so. She was an utter ass & enough to drive anyone mad. But I have one other reason for feeling that I should let Mildred & the nurse go - as soon as possible - & that is, that if Father cannot afford to pay Bébé more than
