The spring of 1929 afforded the opportunity of a trip to France and Germany. France meant largely Paris and a welcomed chance to refresh our memory of the Louvre. To be again in the presence of Ingres, Chardin and the Master of Avignon. 

The galleries of the dealers made it possible to see the development of the artists with which we were already familiar, Picasso, Matisse, Herain, Braque as well as to make the acquaintance of the work of some of the newer men.

Conspicuous in the satisfaction derived from the visit was the realization of a
