The Birth Project will soon have a new home-a two-story historic building in Benicia which will serve as a center for the rapidly expanding Birth Project and the headquarters of Through the Flower Corp. Over the next few months we will be renovating the building and moving in and need help. If you can offer skilled assistance or just plain time, please call the office 707/746-0398. The Birth Project needs money. We are moving into a larger studio space, building a pattern tables, light tables, a darkroom, office space, etc. -all the resources we will need for the duration of the project. We need a base of $50,000.00 for 1982 to pay for rent, utilities, materials costs, photography and minimum staffing. We are applying for numerous government grants but given the federal budget cuts for the arts, funding prospects are becoming ever more narrow -especially for the projects that affirm women. It is therefore essential that women turn to each other so that the gains we have made are not lost and are extended to women everywhere. We hope that you will understand how necessary it is for women to have symbols that affirm our experience. All contributions are tax deductible; checks should be made to The Birth Project/Through the Flower Corp.
