that's a woman and put it out there, put it right out there, with my cunt right out there on the line. In order to do that, I feel it necessary to do a few of the following things: 1) I'm changing my name. I'm going to not use a name that was given to me by a man. I'm going to choose my own name. I'm going away for a year, I'm going to teach a class only for women; after next year I will never teach again except women. Because I need to be with women as much as women need to be with me; I need to help girls feel secure that they can realize themselves, that they can be aggressive, that they can be assertive, that they don't have to step back, that they don't have to hide all pressures that all women, all girls feel as long as a man is in the room. I would like to try and help myself and girls realize ourselves and feel proud of ourselves and begin to use our femaleness to make images out of. I would like to see the beginning of a criticism by women about women. I would like to see women beginning to be peers for each other, support each other, help each other, reflect each other.

You know, when men say, men friends of mine say, about other men, "He's a cunt." You know, I really get up tight!

That's all I have to say. Now I'll answer any questions but only from women.

(man raises his hand)

Sorry. I'm sorry, I won't answer questions from men.

Q. Where are you teaching next year?

Fresno State College.

Q. What kind of course are you going to teach?

I'm teaching three courses. I'm teaching one class that's an all women's class, twelve women ("Where?" At Fresno State College) for girls who are seriously interested in being artists, or art critics. I am teaching a class, an earth-class that involves working outdoors, working directly in very large scale. And I'm teaching a seminar class that has to do with seeing and looking.

Q. Do you know if people in other places are teaching courses like that?
Probably not. I don't know. There's no woman who's teaching a course like I am, no.

No questions!?
