Wall for GEORGE JENSEN CENTER FOR ADVANCED DESIGN, New York. 1968 Call for Information (Originally designed for the Jensen Center, this wall is now in the showroom of Directional Furniture Showrooms, New York) linen size Sheila Hicks collaborated with Warren Flatner [[strikethorugh]] composed [[/strikethrough]] in composing a cohesive environment in which all the elements - Hans Wegner furniture, walls, floors -- [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] in natural colors [[strikethrough]] + textures [[/strikethrough]] and organic materials, unite to create an [[strikethrough]] a [[/strikethrough]] lively exuberance. The linen room has two long facing walls of wiry wet-spun linen tassels looped at one end and cut at the other. They are stitched onto the linen base cloth. Sheila's pre-occupation with the spirally wrapped tassel, first seen as an integral outgrowth of pile construction in the earlier "Prayer rug" series, is here developed into independently constructed elements applied in a rich, random composition. 751/3350
