ABRAZOS AND LOVE AND BESOS COMO SIEMPRE

January 11, 1977

Sheila dear,

Our letters crossed; written a day apart; nice to have the spirits so mutual and floating across the Atlantic.

So happy that you have the Dresn Bank job; it means long work and good rewards and an important commission.

And the New Year begins. Re ATT, Stan tells Frederick to go ahead with me and make recommendations for the rest of our budget (some 60,000 bucks) and goes on to tell F, not a word to me, that of course Connie will be paid from his own 195 Bway budget. F and I are meeting on Friday to make recommendations BUT I wont do a thing until I have word directly from him. He also tells F that the search committee for a new consultant is on - committee of 2, Joseph Rosen and a man from the West Coast - and of course Stan to , Connie is high on the list. What a man! Vamos a ver.

As I told you I'm off to California for a session with Eames. It may turn out well in which case Ill be off to Mexico for a few weeks. However on my return on the 20th, Ill call the Segals and pursue the idea of a series of articles. In that connection have you seen the brochure which CREAR has put out and which has a completely European committee. Claude sent it to me. Not a Japanese, not an American. What the hell???

On December 31, we put through the last two checks as follows: $1200 made out to Ralph W. Bettelheim; $800 to Mildred Constantine. You will receive bills soon dated sometime in late November, 1976.

I am enchanted at the idea of portrait miniatures. Which reminds me, one of the things we forgot is the photograph of the first miniature which you made - I definitely want it for the new book.

Ran into trouble on Jack's monograph. It turns out that Reinhold really does not want on mono on him, nor a bio, but really on Larsen, Inc., designs, which in my opinion is a glorified swatch book and not of interest to me. I also think it would be a mistake to publish this since it would appear as though it were underwritten by Larsen, Inc., and distributed by Reinhold. They claim to have had difficulty in distributing the English version of your monograph. Who knows, but at this moment it is at a standstill.

Was delighted to know that you have Bourdonais off your mind. Realestate can be a drag!

Have good contact with both Raushenberg and Cristo. What do you want from them? Daniel's kite seems like a natural. When does his exhibition open?
