Dear Sheila,

As I promised you, here are the two important reviews on the Mexican exhibition. Each of them is saying something that has never been said before about Mexico and its culture and for this reason, I felt, did exactly what was needed for the exhibition.

Meanwhile, I have gone over very carefully the catalogue for your Japanese exhibition. I like most of the writing in it. If today I would be asked to write a paragraph or maybe I should simply say, if I would articulate my thinking, what I would stress about your work is the exploration of the infinite possibilities of thread. I would marvel at the way in which you juxtapose the cursory and highly detailed, how the power of your threads are like the power of lines, be they bold, shakey, firm tenuous wandering. I would be able to explain the metaphorical elements that have appeared in your work from the very beginning and how your color is indeed part of the metaphor.

Forgive the rambling but these are the reactions I have been having for a long time and looking so carefully again at the catalogue has conformed my reactions to your work.

Love,
Mildred Constantine

P.S. I am so happy we had the long lunch. I hope you didn't catch a cold. It's good that I know your whereabouts, so many people call and check with me.
