educators, and persons interested in art and literature; and to contribute to the encouragement and development of arts and artists, generally, in America, and to the education of the public in art, literature, and kindred subjects. 
The name by which the institution shall be known is "WHITNEY MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART". 
The powers and duties of the Trustees, which, however, shall not be held to be exclusive of other powers which may be necessary to enable such Trustees fully to carry out the objects of the trust, shall be as follows:
The Trustees shall hold, manage, preserve and protect the property of the institution and shall have full and exclusive power to look after and conduct its affairs and business. They may adopt, and from time to time may alter and modify, a constitution and by-laws for the conduct of the affairs of the
