Jan 31. 1848 [[strikethrough]] Wrote to Kellogg. told him of Persico's doings, of my letter about them, of Clays proposed Statue by the Philadelphians - My reasons for not objecting to undertake such a work. Respects to Minister in Constantinople - something about Duncan &c- 

Feb 10th enclosed a letter (from Sheldon). told K of Mr Lester about The Clay Snuff box. of Freemans article about Crawford and myself. about the polanders bust. &c-

March 10 wrote to him customary letters.

March 31 wrote. enclosing a letter from Sheldon. told him about Calvert-Blair. Crawford communion all night with Springer. Brown & Butler doubt about another Eve -- the Brands &c --

April 20. Told him of the Brands. Crawford having his name in bile for Statue of Washington.  clay &c have Eve ready soon as possible &c -- sent him Grimpkis letter. Would not accept of the order for busts of the Presidents at 500.00$ each -- &c --
