1 Nov. 1844 Brooks. wrote to him about the last of this month
told him of new order for 1 duplicates of Slave and others of Proserpine &c--

Dec 1 1845 Enclose bill of lading for Proserpine which left Leghorn in the Almode capt Bartlett on 30 Novr. told him to insure it. told him of 3 orders for Slave. 11 for Proserpine 4 for original ideal works and 1 for Fisher Boy - Column for for Proserpine would cost from 60 to 70 dollars -- charged [[strikethrough]] 50 [[/strikethrough]] 60. Nov 1846  write soon again

May 13th. Wrote to him about Lester -- Proserpine -- Equestrian statue and the following --.

I have long desired to send one or two of my statues to be exhibited in the U States but "the fact is" thus far I have not been able to do it -- they cost me a vast deal of time & money and meanwhile the "bimbi" are eating + wearing out their shoes at the toes &c &c &c -- The Eve now finished, or nearly so. I shall keep in my studio for a time longer --  It is not sufficiently well supported to be carried about without danger - and besides between you and I -- I have made great improvements upon the model for the second one -- It is now ready to begin in marble and I have a magnificent block for it but it unless Congress gives me money or --- you do I fear it must wait awhile before I shall be able to execute it. I have many orders it is true but they are the corn in the field. Just now I am an Irishman waiting for the potatoes to grow, my provision is all in the ground promising a rich harvest provided I am not obliged to sell the future bushel for the present pecks. As yet I have sent out but one statue and that has brought me orders for three copies of it besides three originals -- subjects left to my own decision  -- I have accepted them all but unless I can procure more money in advance I must
