Office Bureau RF&AL Walthourville Liberty Co. Geo decr 14 1866 [[stamp]] THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF THE UNITED STATES [[//stamp]] Bvt. Maj'r Genl. Davis Tillson Asst. Com. Georgia General, The case of Antoinette & her husband Abner Hargrave on which you require a report is a chronic one. Last June she came to me with a complaint that her husband had beaten her. I summoned the parties, investigated the matter, and finding him guilty, instructed both as to their respective marital duties, & was about to punish him, when she came forward, begged him off, & went lovingly home with him. Shortly afterwards she came complaining again, & said she must separate from him. I was at great pains to arrange an amicable & just separation from bed & board, when she again made friends with him. The costs of both proceedings amounting to only 2$ for the two, remain unpaid to this day.
