Col. C.C. Sibley
Ass't Comm'r
The accompanying papers I forwarded to Dr De Hanne by mistake, last Saturday they were returned to me for some corrections & with instructions to forward to you. I was in doubt regarding some of the corrections I was directed to make & waited to consult Col Ehler's who was absent from town - he did not return till after the closing of the Monday's mail and after seeing the Col I delivered the papers so a gentleman from this place who was going to Savannah by the mail boat of Monday night and who promised to forward them from that place. I did not know till yesterday but they were taken as promised, and then, as we have but two mails per week I was obliged to wait till to day - I regret their detention much & will be more careful in future.

Very respectfully
