I am directed by Maj. Genl. Howard, Commisr. to request you to inform this office, what are the notarial fees for affidavits &c. allowed by the laws of the state for which you are Asst. Commissr. 

In case there are no laws regulating such charges, please give the amount which it is customary to charge for the execution of such papers.
