Personally appears before me N. Sellers Hill Capt VRC and  Sub Asst. Com. B of R. F. & A.L. Bill Hightower who being duly sworn, states that he lived with Dr. A. Parsons on the Oconee river in Johnson Co. that he has lived with Parsons since free my wife and two children under 9 years old live there also she has worked all the time when will she has not been sick much.  The balance of the year we was set free he agreed to give us 3 suits of clothes and board and pay as much as anyone else but would not say how much. Christmas came and he had given us no clothes but the first of the next year he gave us one suit each. He st ill promised to pay us as much as any other men gives. We still worked on. the next Christmas a Yankee came from Savannah and made a contract for us for 15 dollars for me with rations we still worked on until the next Christmas, and he refuses still to settle with me.
