I have heard to day fm friends in Wash that the Elder Stone is said to be darkening Viridian & Mars Violet are two of the most prom. colors on the palette & I was told that the [[?]] was absolutely reliable.

If you would care to ship it to me at my expense I should like to try a thourough cleaning & varnishing
with a mat varnish.
If what has been said about the painting is true I would not want you to have anything in your collection that was not a credit to both of us.
