under the bed; showed pictures to very few and only on the last of the 3 weeks there; I kept & keep looking for the negatives in what has been said and not said. So I returned to Dartmouth with apprehension; that I'd done these terrible pieces and they can't be hidden - that's the difference between previous pieces. It's hard to describe the feelings.

Anyway, the day after coming home I drove by & saw the light shift through them, & somehow, though I'm sure they are esthetically questionable, they do what I wanted them to do. So they're imperfect & I'll have to accept lots of people will hate them or ignore them - but I did the best I could do at this point in my life.

And now I want to do better work - & small pieces.
