De [[strikethrough]] cem [[/strikethrough]] January 5, 1968

Mr. Andy Warhol
231 East 47th Street
New York, New York

Dear Mr. Warhol,

[[strikethrough]] As an advisor to [[/strikethrough]] the New York State Council on the Arts has asked me [[strikethrough]] I have been asked [[/strikethrough]] to select a group of films that will travel throughout the state of New York and will be presented free of charge to museums and universities. They are meant to develop an interest in the independant film which is almost unknown outside New York City.

Final approval has been given by the Board of Trustees and Advisors and I am now authorised to purchase a print of RAPE SCENE, a twenty minute sequence from the film, staring International Velvet and Alan Midgette, for the approved amount of $1,200.00 for twenty-five minutes, the price to be accordingly adjusted.

We are preparing a sm catalogue to be given away at each university and museum where the films are shown. In this catalogue we will include a dated biography of each film-maker including where each film may be rented or purchased, thus we would appreciate your sending us as soon as possible an up to date biography and any other necessary information.

We prefer to have the title and credit line placed at the beginning of each film.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping to make this exhibition a success.

Sincerely yours,

Mrs. John Varian
