Sept 3rd  Confronting actual frog it was easy to see that general roughing of head must be greatly reduced to give proper volume to rest of animal.

With 2 "Échais" found centre line and true "squaring" (roughly) of the bloc, marking same with charcoal.

After a little reduction of head & eyes came problem of sanding roughly the front side planes of the back.

For this remember: Gradine held sideways and first cut made along line using 2 or 3 teeth only, so as not to cut too much at once and so dislodge too much outer stone Next move with point from outside - halfway in then from body [[strikethrough]] forward [[/strikethrough]] outward to clear superfluous stone - this repeated several time till roughly right angle "platform" created which disengaged the back down about 3/4 in
and left level shelf of stone on which
